Bentley Speed Demon
Bentley ups its GT ante with the introduction of the Continental Flying Spur and the Continental Flying Spur Speed.
Following up on the very popular Continental Grand Tourer (GT) range, renowned British luxury car manufacturer Bentley Motors is all set to roll out its newest pikes de resistance, the Continental Flying Spur, and the Continental Flying Spur Speed.
The Continental Flying Spur, since its introduction in 2005, has been delighting customers with its performance, refinement and seemingly boundless customisation, and most would argue that this four-door saloon couldn’t get any better.
But Bentley being Bentley Gwent one up on the 2005 -model, adding yet more luxury and even greater potential for personalisation. in terms of styling, the Flying Spur gets a subtly modified front with a more upright grille and a wider central air intake that accentuates the characteristic Bentley profile, while the sleeker rear bumper gives it a more aggressive look. Given how powerful this 552 bhp, 6-cylinder leviathan is, cabin noise could have potentially been a problem. But its improved acoustic glazing, triple-laminated insulation layer under the car and the wheel arch liners ensure that wind noise is reduced to less than a whisper, even at high speeds. For cabin noise of the welcome kind, Bentley has added a new US$ 6,900 Naim sound system with 15 speakers and a 1100-watt amplifier.
Where the Continental Flying Spur Speed scores over its comparatively docile sibling is in the 600 bhp engine with a top speed of 322 kmph and an acceleration time of 4.8 seconds (0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds); overall, nine per cent more power than the standard Flying Spur. The Continental Flying Spur Speed holds the distinction of being the most powerful four-door Bentley, a fact the car reinforces with every turn. The Speed sits lower, 10 mm lower than the Flying Spur to be precise, and the bespoke Pirelli tyres ensure that the car
hugs the road with an iron grip. Nimbler handling, greater steering sensitivity, lighter engine components and ceramic brakes that considerably lighten the vehicle, all lend the Speed greater driver engagement and improved control.
As has been its hallmark, Bentley seamlessly blends luxury, functionality
and power to make the Continental Flying Spur and Continental Flying Spur Speed worthy successors to its legacy.
