FORD AND GM have always excelled at platform sharing. It would almost be fair to say they even taught the world how to do it. So it should come as no surprise that the X-Type has lots of Mondeo hidden under the skin. That’s both good and bad. Bad, because it’s not rear ­wheel drive, but good because few front-wheel-drive cars steer and corner as well as theFord Mondeo. Space is only sufficient on the inside - it does compete with the C-class and the 3-series - and the car isn’t likely to be the cheapest as it will be imported directly to the dealer. Jaguar’s brand equity seems to be reasonably high in the Indian market, so even this entry car should manage to see a decent amount of units sold.
