Italian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani unveiled his Armani/Ginza Tower, featuring the fashionistas first spa, in Tokyo's high-end Ginza district. Celebrating his 20th anniversary of landing in Japan, the Italian designer opened the 11-storey tower dedicated to the growing number of Armani fans in Japan.

The flagship store houses all Armani hrands including clothing, accessories, The Ginza Tower, the fourth such complex after Milan, Hong Kong and Munich, offers something special for Tokyo clients, Armani said. "I learned lots of things from Tokyo when I arrived here 20 years ago, and this is (a way for me) to repay Tokyo," the 73-year-old designer revealed in a press conference at the store.

The tower, which is directly connected to the Ginza subway station, sports a gold­and-black bamboo exterior motif, offers Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani couture and accessories, interior furniture a membership-only bar on the top floor with a view of the neon-lit Ginza skyline. For Armani, the Japanese market is still the third largest market next to the United States and Italy, said the fashion icon. Japan makes up only 10 per cent of Armani clientele.

By offering a one-stop shopping place, the Italian designer hopes to convert more Japanese into the Armani mode. 'We are here to be very competitive,' he said. 'We see less of tradition and more of innovation. Japanese are creative.'

The Armani/Ginza Tower, which is located a block away from Japan's most expensive property, stands among designer-brand flagship stores from around the world.
