Probiotics
STAR POWER: ‘Pro’ means ‘for’
and ‘bios’ means ‘life’. So it’s obvious that probiotics are products for our
well being. Probiotics encourage the balance between the unhealthy and healthy
flora (bacteria) in the intestine. Healthy bacteria are an integral part of
our intestinal health but are killed due to an acidic Ph in the intestine because
of the use of strong medications. Healthy bacteria generate several vitamin
transformations. An absence of this bacteria leads to vitamin deficiency and
recurrent intestinal infections with very toxic and virulent bacteria.
PRACTICAL CONSUMPTION: Eat curd, lassi, khandvi, dhokla or
probiotic products available in the market.
PRECAUTIONS: Probiotics are usuallyassociated with dairy products,
so people with a tendency to sinusitis, kapha and phlegm should stick to grain
versions like dhokla.
