Saffron

STAR POWER: Saffron is one of the most expensive spices. Prices run to thousands of rupees for a small quantity of Himalayan (kashmiri) saffron. It’s used to increase fertility, combat asthma and features in some Unani medicines as an aphrodisiac. It is supposed to imparta beautiful complexion and is excellent to build resistance.

PRACTICAL CONSUMPTION: A few strands of saffron added to milk that has been boiled with dates, raisins and desi alomonds is a great tonic.

PRECAUTIONS: It has a warm effect, so overuse may crate problems.
